Portraits of Macao

“Strings Of Sorrow” is a music-themed drama about four violin players who come together to rehearse a string quartet concert, attempting to hide their differences, conflicts and struggles to create a harmonious performance.

“I believe it’s not incidental that everything does not remain constant,” says Oliver Fa of his second film. “Something may still crop up unexpectedly for a foolproof plan. Some people think it’s chaos, but I consider it art. The film is not only about the uncertainties in music and in people, but also about how I turned the many unfavourable conditions during production into an art form.”
